Petrie Island Contemplation by 'Ottaworth'
A piano improvisation combined with photos of picturesque Petrie Island in the Ottawa River. The piano improvisation, recorded in 1995 on a Heintzman upright grand, was originally entitled “Basic Black in contemplation”. Played exclusively on the black keys, it features a brief recurring melody that reappears in a number of Ottaworth’s improvisations. In 2014 it was put together with a series of photos Ottaworth took in the summer of 2009 and was renamed “Petrie Island Contemplation”. You will probably find it quite relaxing to listen to and conducive to meditation and contemplation of Nature. See other videos by Ottaworth.

This 10 minute slide show follows a day in the life of Petrie Island. It begins at dawn and ends at dusk, following the animals and people who visit the island. The sand piles that you see are no longer there. The commercial sand extraction business has been replaced by Stuemer Beach.
